4. SIUE School of Business Again Named Outstanding Business School

SIUE is an outstanding business school, according to The Princeton Review. The education services company features the school in the new 2012 edition of its book, “The Best 294 Business Schools.” According to Princeton Review Senior VP-Publisher Robert Franek, “We chose the 294 business schools in this book based on our high opinion of their academic programs and offerings, as well as our review of institutional data we collect from the schools. We also strongly consider the candid opinions of students attending the schools that rate and report on their campus experiences at their schools on our survey for the book.” “The Best 294 Business Schools: 2012 Edition” has two-page profiles of the schools with write-ups on their academics, student life, and admissions, plus ratings for their academics, selectivity, and career placement services. In the profile of SIUE, The Princeton Review editors describe the school as: “convenient, affordable and located close to a metropolitan area.” They quote students attending SIUE who say “The School is great for students who want a great education but cannot afford to pay inflated tuition.”

9. SIUE Pharmacist Wins State Award

In just a little more than 5 years, Dr. Jessica Kerr, a pharmacist and associate professor of pharmacy practice in the SIUE School of Pharmacy, has written curriculum, trained pharmacists to become diabetes coaches in collaboration with the Illinois Pharmacists Association (IPhA), been instrumental in establishing immunization programs throughout Illinois — including ones at SIUE — and has created a statewide student competition for patient counseling. So it came as no surprise when IPhA recently selected Dr. Jessica Kerr to receive the Illinois Pharmacist of the Year Award, said Dr. Gireesh Gupchup, a pharmacist and dean of the SIUE School of Pharmacy. 10. SIUC’s Core Institute, Everfi Announce Partnership

SIUC’s Core Institute, which holds the country’s largest database about drinking and other drug use by college students, is now partnering with EverFi, Inc., the nation’s leading online alcohol education company.  The partnership promotes the integrated use of the partners’ services, bringing together the Core Alcohol and Other Drug Survey and the AlcoholEdu for College course.  Thus, the Core endorses and promotes AlcoholEdu, the only intervention program that a National Institutes of Health-funded study found effective in reducing alcohol problems among college freshmen.  In addition, as EverFi works with its campus partners, the company will actively promote use of the Core survey to assess student substance use.  With funding from the U.S. Department of Education, the Core Institute developed the Core Alcohol and Drug Survey to measure the use of alcohol and other drugs as well as attitudes and perceptions among college students at both two-year and four-year institutes.  EverFi also offers educational platforms focusing on financial literacy, student loan management, digital responsibility and cyber bullying, in use by more than 3,000 high schools and institutions of higher learning this academic year.
